When Building A Lap Pool

Defined Tag: Building A Lap Pool.

There was an old episode of the Flintstones that featured Fred and Barney “building” a swimming pool in their backyard. In the episode, there was a box clearly marked “Do It Yourself Swimming Pool Kit” and when the box was opened, it was revealed that the contents of the box were simply two shovels. Yup, Fred and Barney dug a big hole in their yard and filled it with water. In reality, this would be a pretty poor method of building a lap pool. Not that one couldn’t actually do it this way provided the person did not have an aversion to swimming in a huge puddle of muddy water.

No, if one is interested in building a lap pool then it would be wise to follow common procedures that have proven both successful from a practical standpoint (ie…more than just digging a hole!) and from an aesthetic standpoint (ie…looking like more than a huge hole in the backyard!)

Now, before even embarking on building a lap pool it would be wise to make sure that the ground that you wise to build the pool embodies enough space needed to where there is room for the pool. Since lap pools are more rectangular in shape, they will require a bit of length. If this space is not available, then building a lap pool may not be a wise venture.

Now, it would not be wise to only build a lap pool that is singularly focused. That is, building a lap pool should not only be for building a pool that is for exercise, but also the pool should be designed so other members of the family can lounge on it as well. To not do so would place great limitations on the uses of the pool and where is the fun in that?
